PROJECT PROPOSAL
LEARNING CENTRE MAE SOT, THAILAND (Named the Future Garden School)
A new, safe, bright and happy school for over 250 deeply underprivileged Burmese migrant children.
THE EXISTING SCHOOL
This will be a complete rebuild of an incredibly unsafe school structure in the border town of Mae Sot, Thailand.
The current school is in complete disrepair and about to be closed, it’s simply to unsafe for the kids to be inside. It was built very poorly over 10 years ago with makeshift materials.
The closing of the school will mean over 250 children will have nowhere to learn, play and feel safe each day.
Working with our trusted partners and our local teams we plan on building a brand new school with sanitation and common areas included. Together we have built 8 very successful and much needed projects in the district all on time and on budget.
We will be recruiting labourers from the local Burmese community, many of whom have children in the school, this ensures local buy-in and support.
Our engineer who has worked on all of our projects actually came across the border many years ago and hugely benefited from a very similar school.
This project will be a life changing gift to these children who have been through so much in their young lives.
The ongoing running costs of the school will be funded by the community and small local NGOs for the Burmese migrant children, a very successful model used in all of our projects in the area.
Should the team be happy we are ready to get started right away, the total budget is £54,000 with an approx payment plan of 40% 30% 30% over the course of the build.
We have been trying to manage expectations on the ground as always, but it’s safe to say the community is very excited by the prospect!
