Jeevanshala – Budget: $50,000
A community-led school improvement project serving the community in and around Sawaryadigar Village in Maharashtra, India that will transform a dilapidated building into a thriving and sustainable learning environment.
The project places local ownership at its heart, empowering the community to lead the reconstruction and renovation process while investing in the future of its children.
Funding will provide children with access to a safe and inspiring place to learn, enabling them to remain in education for longer and improving educational outcomes within the community. By creating an environment that supports both learning and development, this project will deliver long-term benefits for generations to come.
New Road Extension for GED Classrooms and Library/Resource Centre – Budget: £30,000
This project will expand our already highly successful school that currently provides education to more than 300 local children.
Funding will support the construction of additional classrooms together with a library and resource centre, enabling the school to meet growing demand and provide continued educational opportunities for its students.
The expansion will allow more young people to gain the qualifications required to access scholarship opportunities at Thai universities, opening life-changing pathways to higher education and future employment.
The school's GED program will provide vital support for young Burmese adults who have fled conflict in Myanmar.
Through a recognised conversion course, students are able to continue their education within Thailand and work towards brighter and more secure futures. Investment in this project will ensure that these opportunities can continue to grow and reach even more vulnerable young people.
Paul Sweet / Moving School Relocation – Budget: £18,000 (+ an additional £20,000 for further development)
Following the receipt of a land eviction notice, the school has been forced to relocate once again. Whilst challenging, this move presents an opportunity to establish a more sustainable and secure future for the school and the community it serves.
A new site has been secured outside the township of Mae Sot, where it is less affected by the land price pressures experienced at the current location. The site has been formally agreed with both the local community and the education committee, providing confidence in its long-term suitability.
An initial budget of £18,000 has been agreed with a local contractor to cover the dismantling, transportation, and reconstruction of the nursery and school classrooms. This funding will ensure that education can continue with minimal disruption for the children who rely on the school.
An additional £20,000 would enable the construction of essential infrastructure, including toilets and wash facilities, teacher accommodation, and a secure resource centre. This space will provide a dedicated area for teacher training and community activities, while safely housing donated laptops, books, and other educational resources.
By supporting this project, donors will help create not only a new school site, but a safe and sustainable educational hub that can serve children and families for many years to come.
